The Codenames In My opinion have paved the way for a brand new GENRE of music.
AMERICANA GOTHIC
This stuff is so cool, It's like I think My GRANDMA could sit and enjoy listening to this.. as well as a snot nosed little GOTH punk kid from Glasgow KY would love it as well..
haha taking some of my fave parts of artists like PAT HANEY, LUCINDA WILLIAMS, JOHNNY CASH & WILLIE NELSON and mixing it with artists like ALKALINE TRIO, MISFITS, TYPE O NEGATIVE etc... and creating something completely new..
Here's a challenge.. sit down grab a pen and a pencil and write down 5 artists that fit the description above.. honestly I've heard a lot of stuff out there and I can only think of maybe two artists that have done this ..ok maybe three if you count my band DARK HUMOR but we only do it sometimes haha..
Instead of giving you a song by song review like I normally do.. I just want yo to go grab this record and see for yourself.. this stuff is awesome..

I had written this review a while back and being that it wasn't my typical review In song by song fashion I was asked (well maybe begged a little haha) to give a song by song review.. So here we go..
BAG OF BONES
brings to mind the funky country groove of MONKEY BOY
Man I really do love this band... this shit is awesome.. it's like PLAN COUNTRY FROM OUTERSPACE haha
I BET YOU WERE ABDUCTED BY ALIENS
has a true BOB DYLAN feel to it.. like his older songs like KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR You almost forget the NOTSERIOSNESS of the songs just by the way they pull it off...these guys are smart,, or sumthin'
CATS FOR DOGS
This is a good honky tonk bar song.. Listen to this track and try to tell me you couldn't hear it playin' in the background of PORKY'S ILLEAGAL CASINO!!!

They're singin' a song about my home town :) well what do ya expect I am the DEVIL
this one has a good feel to it also.. should have been in the movie NATURAL BORN KILLERS haha.. or maybe that cheezy LOU DIAMON PHILLIPS movie ROUTE 666

gotta have a car song!! I'd like to hear these guys to a cover of ONE PIECE AT A TIME!!!

god how many times have I said that about people... I love the countdown :) this is like one of those easy listening songs you'd hear on the radio late at night.... you know one of those tracks you're just kinda groovin to then you're like wait a minute what the fuck did he say?

dammit you would know my fave is one of every one else's faves also.. Ok I change my mind I hate this song.. I don't like it at all.. it's definately not my favorite song on this cd!!! I really don't like it cause it has that great VELVET GOLDMINE DAVID BOWIE GLAM ACOUSTIC TAKE ME TO OUTERSPACE FEEL haha..
SNAKEMAN once againg we've got a good AMERICANA song.. kinda like TOM PETTY acoustic or STEVE EARLE!!!
STONE COLD TRUCKIN' if I ever do a low budget horror/sci-fi movie I have got to get these guys to do the soundtrack.. It's almost like as if THE MUNSTERS had a psychobilly rock band :)

THE GREAT NEBO HOLIDAY INN reminds me of a slow CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL.. not sure why? maybe like a slower version of PUT A SPELL ON YOUR or something? I don't know it's cool haha.. takes a bit to get going.. I love the trumpets etc.. reminds me of CAKE :)
AND OF COURSE we get the ever present SECRET TRACK!!! This sounds like it should have been in a JIM VARNEY ERNEST MOVIE haha I don't know why but I can see JIM VARNEY dancing around all goofy as hell to this.. I don't want to give out to many details of this track.. just get the CD you'll see..
