Imagine a small mechanical marionette dancing about a darkened hallway...jolts of electricity pulsing through his wiry body forcing him into tiny little fits.. The hallway stretches onward endlessly never ceasing...the light flickers on and off like lightening....the tiny little man scratches at the wall trying to scream but unable...THIS IS WHAT I SEE WHEN I LISTEN TO THE KIDNEYTHIEVES!!
Heavy Industrial Guitars and beats and PJ HARVEY MEETS MADONNA VOCALS Make The perfect mix for this SPOOKY yet seductive journey into ZEROSPACE
The first track BEFORE I'M DEAD was featured on the QUEEN OF THE DAMNED soundtrack...Very Electronic Very Heavy but as I said still has beautiful vocals.. Free Proves you don't have to SCREAM to be heavy
The Second Track Is The Title Track ZEROSPACE
This song is Heavy as hell but poppy enough to be mainstream! Not that the mainstream is ready for something as unique and genuine as the Kidneythieves but hey it could happen... This is one of those songs you can imagine a Goth Pole Dancer Really Getting Down On...
Good Choice as the First Single!
the third track ARSENAL is where I got my whole MADONNA comparison...This sounds like something strait off the MADONNA *MUSIC* album.. but a little darker
Track 5 BLACK BULLET has a real TOOL feel in the vocals... you'll know what part I mean when you hear it!!
Though FREE has a very unique voice (I hate to hear people compare her to Alanis Morrissette) there are definite similarities in some of the underground.. Such as the chorus of the song DYSKRASIA sounds a bit like JESSICKA of JACK OFF JILL & SCARLING
SPANK has a very sweet seductive Old Style Industrial feel to it! Not unlike Early Nine Inch Nails or Ministry... I love the simple growth of the song! Building into something bigger as it goes!
GLITTER GIRL is a little more groove rock....Thriving on a smooth rolling bass line and soft distorted guitars...
SERENE DREAM is the softer side of KIDNEYTHIEVES This is the song that they would more than likely play acoustic some day on TRL or KIDNEYTHIEVES UNPLUGGED!! This one is very beautiful and very TORI AMOS.
AMNZERO is a very hypnotic trance piece.. lulling you into a stupor preparing you for the next track...
Ahh yes the first KIDNEYTHIEVES song many people were exposed to wasn't really a KIDNEYTHIEVES song after all!! It's the WILLIE NELSON penned CRAZY which was made famous by PATSY CLINE
This track was originally on the BRIDE OF CHUCKY Soundtrack!!! I'm not sure but this version might be a slight bit different? Don't have both versions to listen to side by side right at the moment! Very SEDUCTIVE and Edgy! LOVE it when it KICKS IN!!!! And I thought my old band DARK HUMOR was the only band who recorded their own version of CRAZY!
In true industrial Gothic Fashion The next track PLACEBO is a monumental 6:39 seconds long but is worth every second.. BRUCE is an amazing musician and song writer!! I know I haven't mentioned him very much at all in this review but without him none of this amazing music would be possible!
And Finally the last track TAKE A TRAIN (awakening)
Could have done without the over ten minutes of silence before the track comes in but hey the track is awesome!!
I wonder if FREE has ever heard the band CURRENT 93 this track sounds just like some of their stuff! This in my opinion the track that sets Free aside from everyone else! with no musical accompaniment she carries the tune with only her voice and creativeness... MILLA JOVOVICH would be proud!! If you don't understand that remark buy some of MILLA's music!
IGNORE EVERYTHING I HAVE JUST SAID!! GO BUY ZEROSPACE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!!
TURN OFF ALL THE LIGHTS AND LAY IN THE FLOOR WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING ON FULL BLAST AND LISTEN TO IT IN IT'S ENTIRETY! AND THEN TELL ME YOU DIDN'T VISUALIZE SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL!!
THAT MAKES THIS CD WORTH HAVING!
