It's no secret that I'm not a big RAP fan.
I like SNOOP DOGG, LIL' JON, CYPRESS HILL, DMX, MYSTIKAL, LUDAKRIS I mean any one that has their own sound... something that sticks in my head...
It's no secret that I LOVE INDUSTRIAL and GOTH music.... NINE INCH NAILS, MINISTRY, BILE, BAUHAUS etc...
So when I heard that SMP had gathered a group of both RAP and INDUSTRIAL artists to do a record.. I HAD TO REVIEW IT!
I have no clue how to review a rap album.. It's either Good or it isn't.. but when I put this disc in.. I instantly was sucked in... The music was like ADRENALIN mixed with COCAINE... I LOVED IT..
The first track is by SMP and is titled TOMBSTONE, this is probably the best SMP track I've heard to date...the line DANCE OF THE DEAD screams at you and sticks in the back of your brain like a gruesome car wreck that you can't stop thinking about but keep looking back.
ASCETIC - SOFT ASYLUM
is the first what I'd call pure rap track on this.. mixed with a bit of MORRISON it's definately hypnotizin'
THE LOYAL OPPOSITION - UNDER THE STATE
brings a bit of that OOZE techno industrial grind to the mix.. sort of old school NIN mixed with a bit of KMFDM, could definately be a great addition to any MORTAL KOMBAT video game.
THE MARGINAL PROPHETS - DO IT LIKE THAT (Ill Media Mix)
If TOM WAITS was a rapper I think he'd do something like this... end of story.
LUCID DEMENTIA - CONTROLLED
This is probably my favorite group on the disc... I am a sucker for the ladies... the sweet Zombina & the Skeletones style vox grabs you by the nuts and doesn't let go until they're finished with you!
PENAL COLONY - OMEGA MAN (featuring SMP)
This track reminds me of those old science fiction movies such as ZARDOZ or BARBARELLA not sure why... just take a hit and trip with it fucker!
SLAVE UNIT - IN TIME
Apocolyptic and chaotic.. ATARI TEENAGE RIOT would be PROUD!
TANKT - TRIBAL ACT I
This one has one killer stomp to it... break out the shackles and chains.. drip the candle wax and feel the sweet pain.. God Yes...
A MURDEROUS INTERLUDE
(Hymn Of The 4th Beast)
Rosemary's Baby & Johnny Cash 'Nuff Said!
THE LOYAL OPPOSITION - REALITY?
This song is one of my favorites on the disc.. the first line..
"I Need A Beat, So Mutha Fucka Give It To Me"
definately Fires Me Up!
LABWRK - PARASITE
Gravity Kills was one of my favorite Industrial bands that came out in the mid to late 90s and this song reminds me a lot of them.. SO needless to say I love it!
LUCID DEMENTIA - QUEER
I think I've already mentioned how much I love this band, mixing it up a bit with different vox here.. I fucking Love This Band!
FATAL WISDOM - PANDORA'S BOX
Tripped Out Flipped Out And Totally Fucked Up..What Else Can I Say?
I LOVE THE BACKGROUND VOX LOOPED!
64K - NUMB
This song paints a very dark and morbid dreary image.. but I can't look away.. gotta keep listening.. gotta know how it ends.
SMP - THREE O'CLOCK (Khopped and Skrewed)
Can't deny the heaviness of this guitar riff.. this proves you dont' have to play fast to fucking rock!
THE PUNK GROUP - TOBY KEITH
This song is fucking hilarious, I mean I have to admit I like a few Toby Keith songs but this is great!
DIMENSION ZERO - NASCENTES MORIMUR
I like the insane vocals in this track... It's so unexpected and out of place.. but works. Possibly my second favorite track on the disc. And when it kicks in it's even better.... Give it a chance.. kinda like creeper weed.. take a hit.. and wait.
A MURDEROUS EPILOGUE (How Many Times?)
It's Over Folks, It's Over
Well what can I say now.. I may not know how to review a rap album but I can tell you if I like it or not.. these guys did a helluva job.. thanks for lettin' me review it..
