|ZOMBINA & THE SKELETONES|
I WAS A HUMAN BOMB FOR THE FBI
1. I Was A Human Bomb For The F.B.I
2. I Love Rock 'n' Roll
3. Punk Rock Vampires : Destroy
First let me say that singles always leave me unsatisfied and wanting more. This isn't a bad thing though, it does make me want to buy the album the track was taken from or will appear on. But, I still long for the days of NINE INCH NAILS halo series and singles of that such. Those that seemed to have enough REMIXES and BONUS/UNRELEASED tracks on them that they could have been a separate album. Oh but only in my dreams.
OK on with the single review!
The actual single
"I WAS A HUMAN BOMB FOR THE FBI"
I keep wanting to call this I was a teenage bomb so if you see anywhere that I've messed up and typed that.. sorry!
this track definitely sums up all that is ZOMBINA & THE SKELETONES the sweet Christina Ricci-esque vocalist's sweet and sassy vox are very reminiscent of THE DONNAS but hell the DONNAS rock so they could be doing worse,
The guitar is definitely punk and full on, but don't worry this stuff is sugar coated enough even your mom would dig it.. well maybe not..
It impresses me that these kids are so well timed and together.. this is truly a talented band.
The next track "I LOVE ROCK 'N' ROLL" is probably my least favorite ZOMBINA track I've heard so far.. not that it's a bad song.. it's good, jut a bit too redundant for me.. it's a very cute song though.. my girlfriend seems to LOVE this track.. not sure why.. should I take that as a bad sign.
and NO it's not a cover, though I'm sure the Skeletones could do a kick ass version of the old rock anthem.
The third track is what you'd call a HORROR PUNK ANTHEM with vox by everyone in the band it seems.
"PUNK ROCK VAMPIRES : DESTROY"
Brings out the MISFITS influenced side of this band!
I'm not going to spend too much time reviewing the single.. but trust me it rocks.. it's worth it, just be sure you can play VINYL if you want the official release!
Though as I said before I would have liked to seen more on it :)
Maybe the DE-FLESH MODE REMIX of NOBODY LIKES YOU WHEN YOU'RE DEAD that DOC HORROR did, I'm still trying to find that.. would love to hear it..
